Interviews are required for all first time adult passports. 38,391 interviews had been held as of 10 February 2008.
You will be asked to confirm basic information about yourself - information that someone attempting to steal your identity may not know. This will be gathered lawfully from databases and the like.
Interview offices do not give passports.
